Piracicaba is located within reach of the state's main
highways-Anhangüera, Washington Luiz, Castelo Branco
and Bandeirantes. A railway connects the Capital and Santos,
the main export port in the country.
The Bandeirantes highway connects the cities of São
Paulo, Junciaí and Campinas. This highway's future
76 km extension towards the interior will be only 18 km
away from the city of Piracicaba. This road extension will
provide an important commercial corridor for products and
goods of approximately 5 thousand industries in the region,
thus making transportation to the most important consumer
markets of the country more accessible.
The state government program to build new roads (Programa
de Concessão de Rodovias do Estado de São
Paulo) has plans to duplicate the roads that connect Piracicaba
to other important consumer centers in the region, like
the cities of Rio Claro, Nova Odessa, Capivari and São
Pedro, allowing for faster and safer road transportation
within the State. The duplication of the highway connecting
the city of Piracicaba to the city of Limeira is in its
final stage. Limeira is another major production center
and a significant consumer market. The SP-127 highway, that
connects Piracicaba to Castelo Branco highway, will also
be duplicated.
AIRPORT
Piracicaba's airport beaconallows for night
landing. The airport operates 24 hours a day. The 1,200m
by 30m paaved landing strip permits air-trffic operation
of small and medium size planes like Senida, Baron, Bonanza,
Sitation, Bandeirante, Kingair, Lear Jet, among others.
