Festivity of the Divine Holy Spirit

First introduced in Piracicaba in 1826 it has become a significant religious manifestation of its people and the most expressive event of the tourist calendar of the city. The particular characteristics of the culture of the population that settled along the river banks is highlighted during the one-week festivities along Rua do Porto. The former settlers used to ask the Holy Spirit for graces, committing themselves to celebrate the day of "The Third Person of the Holy Trinity". The party today is a joyful remake of the ancient celebration, keeping alive the symbolism of the old traditions and the religious belief. Most of the city's people participate in this folklore party that takes place on the second week of July and is famous all over the country.
